They say it takes a village, and we are proud to be building that village right here.
At Unwind Oasis, our physical classes are just the beginning. The simple act of stepping through our studio doors creates a massive ripple effect across the neighborhood. Our guests do not just invest in their own wellness journey; they directly fund vital, tuition-free resources for neighborhood youth.
Our deep love for this area inspired us when we opened up with our pet businesses, Barkin Dogs and Waggin Tails Pet salon and Proper Pups Dog Training. These local businesses opened up incredible new doors for us to connect with our neighbors. We jumped headfirst into holiday outreach, organizing neighborhood Easter egg hunts, building thrilling haunted houses, providing local families with the necessities for Thanksgiving feasts, and prepping hot Thanksgiving feasts for local individuals experiencing homelessness.
Getting to know the families on this personal level showed us a tough reality. We listened to the severe academic challenges local kids are navigating in school and realized there is a major shortage of protective, constructive environments where they can spend their afternoons.
We knew we had to step up to change the narrative.
Our ultimate vision is to create a dynamic, reliable sanctuary where local kids can thrive academically and socially. We are collaborating with Enchanted Black Cat Studio to host free children’s art programs, which sit alongside our zero-cost academic tutoring, youth fitness, and creative workshops. Moving forward, we are teaming up with other local businesses and nonprofits to introduce crucial life-readiness classes. We want to teach everyday adulthood skills, ranging from schedule management and daily routines to job interview prep.
The goal with our new space is to support entire families, from toddlers to grandparents. We are building an active, multi-generational calendar featuring a kids’ book club, a paint club, and specialized senior nights packed with fun activities like bingo. Most importantly, we want the neighborhood to design this space with us. Our doors are wide open to student and community feedback—if there is a specific class or activity you want to see, we will work together to make it a reality.
